A few days ago we listened to an interview with Robert Kiyosaki about the current global economic turmoil. If you don't know Robert Kiyosaki, he is a very successful businessman and author. Actually it was his book
Rich Dad, Poor Dad that first inspired us to open our minds to different ways of creating success in our lives - not just success in business but also success in our personal lives.
We highly recommend everything he has written, in particular
Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Rich Dad Prophecy. In 2005 Robert Kiyosaki predicted that the property boom would turn into the biggest mortgage disaster ever. He even predicted the fall of Lehman Bros and Goldman Sachs by name - and was ridiculed for his prediction. The rest is history.
So, do you want the good news or the bad news...? We'll start with the bad news.
Robert Kiyosaki believes the current bailout will not save us long term or prevent future economic shocks - just as the bailout by George Bush Senior in the US in 1989 (with the promise "this will never happen again") did not prevent today's turmoil.
Robert Kiyosaki has been predicting for several years now that the worst global economic turmoil will come when the majority of the world's baby boomers begin drawing on their retirement savings around 2012. As a result, he predicts high inflation, fewer high paid jobs, and the demise of Social Security and Medicare. He also says if you're not rich already and if you've been directly affected by the current stock market crash, then you've been receiving bad advice.
More multi-millionaires are created during a recession or depression than at any other time because in a financial crisis they see opportunity where most see bad news and disaster. Too many people make the commitment to be cowards and hide, waiting for the dawn to come. Waiting for someone to rescue them.
It is his belief that no job is secure these days and that increasing numbers of low paid jobs will be done offshore in Vietnam, China or Korea.
And now the good news.
Robert's advice is to start a home based business and/or get involved in network marketing. Both have low start-up costs which is a huge plus. Or buy a franchise, although that is a more expensive option. These, Robert says, are the only ways to take charge of your own future. Network marketing enables you to help others find the commitment to take charge of their lives and save themselves from economic downturns. All three options have great support systems and guidance - which is an advantage over most other small businesses in an economic downturn.
We all know it is much easier to do nothing and remain poor, but it takes guts, commitment and hard work to be successful. Commit to what you want to become.
