We met Prime Minister Kevin Rudd last night!

He brought his whole Federal Cabinet to our local community for a public forum. About 800 locals, including Richard and me, attended the forum held at Hallett Cove School. The school where my two sons spent 13 years of their lives getting an education. And a good one at that.

Love him or loathe him, it was quite a show. Across the stage sat the PM, Deputy Julia Gillard and the other 18 or so Cabinet Ministers, including the very familiar faces of Simon Crean, Martin Ferguson and Peter Garrett. As well as the younger generation, Penny Wong and Nicola Rixon.

They took questions from the audience and the main focus, as expected here in SA, was on the ailing River Murray, housing affordability, pensioner issues, tax relief and climate change.
I guess it was the PM doing a bit of PR - but it felt good having them visit our little seaside suburb, prepared to listen to the concerns of ordinary Aussies. Good one Kevin!
The forum was the 6th in a series to be held across Australia as part of the Prime Minister’s commitment to ensure close consultation with the Australian people on the things that concern them, whether they are national or local matters.
These meetings give people in the community an opportunity to meet with Cabinet members in person and ask questions directly about issues which are important to them.
Thank you for choosing us!
